<![CDATA[Tales of Phantasia Narikiri Dungeon X Translation Site - Blog]]>Sat, 06 Feb 2016 03:16:47 -0800Weebly<![CDATA[Main Translation Complete!!!]]>Thu, 14 Jan 2016 04:06:20 GMThttp://talesofnaridanx.weebly.com/blog/main-translation-completeYes folks! I decided to work hard in secret for a while and release all the script at once!
Everything in the main plot from the beginning to end is covered including plot-induced skits!
Now my priority will be to translate the opening, ending themes and Phantasia X Londrine exclusive scenes.
Whether or not I translate the side content is something I've been pondering about.
On one hand there are a couple of interesting sidequests (mainly one about Arche and the EX Dungeon one). On the other hand there's a lot to do there and much isn't all that interesting.

Still that would come after opening, ending and Phantasia X scenes.

Thanks for all your patience!
<![CDATA[The longest hiatus ever. ]]>Sun, 22 Feb 2015 02:00:23 GMThttp://talesofnaridanx.weebly.com/blog/the-longest-hiatus-everIt's been forever, hasn't it? Lots of stuff have happened and I couldn't find a lot of reasons to update, despite having some work to update.
I'm sorry that it's been so long (though I did deliver on that update I promised in 2013, just silently). I can't promise regular updates but the project is definitely *not* dead at all.

While you wait for a translation update, I'd like to thank PanbanRichard for promoting the site through his
LP of the game (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mR00AJWhtSQ). Go give the guy a watch or two!

I've been considering stopping translating after Absolute Zero confirmed they were working on their patch but it's been so long that I think it's worth finishing the work I started. Plus I'm always iffy about quitting projects permanently.

But yeah, here's to hopefully a good year of translation! This year should be it!

<![CDATA[Not dead. Update "soon".]]>Sun, 28 Jul 2013 20:58:44 GMThttp://talesofnaridanx.weebly.com/blog/not-dead-update-soonI'm so very sorry for everyone who has been following up until now. I've been kicking and kicking this project. What was one day became a week and what was one week became 5 months.
I was meaning to update up to mid-game at the very least in July, near my birthday (8th of July) but I assumed wrong with a lot of inconveniences showing up and a tremendous lack of motivation. As a result I haven't touched the script since May and I do not want to rush through to "get it finished". I won't upload something that I haven't proofread or at least convinced myself is decent.

Still this is becoming embarassingly ridiculous. I'm very sorry things are delayed ridiculously so. No matter what organizational, motivational or personal life issues I have there's no excuse for such lack of updates. I owe a huge apology to everyone.
I want to say I'll make it up in August, but I can't promise anything yet, thus the quote-unquote "soon".

As soon as I proofread what I have up until now and it's in a decent shape enough to be uploaded, I'll do that.

On a side note, I've been strongly considering moving onto a different format such as googledocs or something. I'll see in a future.
As a reminder, I am not intending to drop this translation project ever. I'm very adamant in finishing this. I can't stress enough how I don't have any intentions of dropping the project even if it's not following schedule (not even close). So don't worry about that one. That's clear in my mind: someday, somehow I -will- finish this.

<![CDATA[Delays and other stuff]]>Fri, 01 Feb 2013 00:46:10 GMThttp://talesofnaridanx.weebly.com/blog/delays-and-other-stuffHello people! It's certainly been a long time!
I've had tons of short comings as of late, including my PSP not working and my savefile being lost as well as college and some part time jobs taking all time.
Do not fret, though. As slow as this project is going it will never be cancelled. I plan to have a full script by July or by the end of the year, depending on many life circumstances.
I want to apologize to everyone and I hope once this is done, all of you enjoy the script. Thanks so much for your patience, the few who follow this!
<![CDATA[Goodbye Etos, hi Ethos!]]>Sat, 20 Oct 2012 05:01:26 GMThttp://talesofnaridanx.weebly.com/blog/goodbye-etos-hi-ethosOkay for those who have been reading my script for a while you might have been used to see "Etos" in my translations.
Today I decided to do a little more of research and much like Londrine, "Etos"' name is most probably meant to be spelled Ethos. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethos
This also would look similar to other two important characters in the Aselian universe, Mithos and Dhaos, both having a consonant followed by an "h".

So...now it's only a matter of getting used to see that :)
Yes, I'm sticking with that spelling from now on. It's the official unofficial name for this translation.

<![CDATA[Hiatus no more!]]>Wed, 10 Oct 2012 22:58:43 GMThttp://talesofnaridanx.weebly.com/blog/hiatus-no-moreSelf-explanatory title, pretty much.
I realize how sluggish I've been with the script but working almost solo and life is being really a huge obstacle.
Regardless, do expect some speedy progress!
Thanks for the patience, the few people that actually follow the site :D!
<![CDATA[Small hiatus ]]>Sat, 21 Jul 2012 04:08:28 GMThttp://talesofnaridanx.weebly.com/blog/small-hiatusSo as you might have noticed the script hasn't been updated in over a month. I've been taking some time to wrap up other projects (YouTube stuff) and college.
Sorry guys, this will be on hold for one or two months now. Even if the updates aren't regular, I do need time for this and I wish to dedicate it its proper time; right now I really want to do other things before fully focusing on this project again.

See you soon!
<![CDATA[A warm welcome to katSS!]]>Thu, 10 May 2012 23:49:53 GMThttp://talesofnaridanx.weebly.com/blog/a-warm-welcome-to-alexSo here I was going on and about how there weren't people visiting my page and I get an email from someone offering to help.
Said person is katSS. I really appreciate his efforts! He's done some minor spellcheck in the achievement document and he's interested in doing the same for the actual big file.

So thanks a lot, katSS! You are very welcome to the team!
<![CDATA[The many means of meaning]]>Mon, 13 Feb 2012 04:02:07 GMThttp://talesofnaridanx.weebly.com/blog/the-many-means-of-meaningNow let's dive into one of the most important aspects to have in mind while translating: the message.
Words aren't enough to convey a message and at many points the message is lost if you simply translate literally everything. Not only that, much repetition is created. Japanese are more forgiving with word repetition than westerns, they tend to reuse the same phrases over and over without much any problem.
But when you are translating you must find synonyms and be sure it fits your character.
For instance a very common phrase "Jya, ikouze!" which literally means "Well then, let's go!" needs to be changed once in a while to "let's keep moving forward" or "let's proceed".

On the other hand we have terms in Japanese that just don't work in English. So this is where the biggest headache comes: What works, and what doesnt.
See you later guys!

<![CDATA[Why Londrine?]]>Thu, 09 Feb 2012 09:36:34 GMThttp://talesofnaridanx.weebly.com/blog/why-londrineSo some of you may be exactly wondering: Why did you not stick with the official romanization (Rondline E Effenberg AKA Rody) and thought Londrine or Loddie was more appropiate?
The answer is pretty interesting actually.
You see, in NDX's developers' blog it was mentioned her name had relation to "swallow". Spanish happens to be my first language and I caught the reference right away, "swallow" in spanish is "golondrina".
As you might see "Londrine" was probably what they were intending before some of their co-workers screwed up.
That's not all, though. Loddie is a very independant and strong woman. She "flies through time". She's very much like a bird in many ways. She even makes references in her Mystic Arte's speech and with her Artes.
Let's see how her story evolves for the rest of the game and...why does she know Dhaos anyways?
Only one way to know! Good luck everyone!
